My Name is Maureen, and I have been a Nurse for 13 Years. Nursing is my second career, as I spent 18 years in management in the retail sector. After I raised my children to the point where they were independent, I decided that it was time to pursue my life long dream of becoming a nurse. The medical profession is in my blood, and I am following in my family’s footsteps that began with my great grandparents who met while serving in WWI as a doctor and a nurse.

I live near the shore of Lake Michigan in a small country town name Dowagiac. The town is located on the Michigan-Indiana border. I have been very blessed while working with Centra, I have been able to stay close to home and have spent much of my time working in Kalamazoo, Michigan (home To Western Michigan University). I have worked in management, as the Clinical Team Manager, as well as the Nurse Manager for a community clinic which tailors to the underserved in the Kalamazoo area. Currently, I am working in the homecare setting. I have also spent time working in the cities that border Lake Michigan during Covid-19, and kept many of the vulnerable elderly population in stable health and helped to meet their medical needs during such a tough time! I have really enjoyed serving the community during such trying times, as many people are still confined to home to protect themselves from Covid-19.

I moved to this area of the state of Michigan 8 years ago after living in the suburbs of Detroit for over 40 years. My Husband still teases that I remain here because of the many wineries, breweries and distilleries within an hours drive in any direction! I can not deny that it helps to keep me here, as well as the beaches of Lake Michigan which I find to be very peaceful and relaxing! I have really enjoyed working with my recruiter Kylie, as she really listens to what I am looking for when it’s time for my next assignment! She has found me such perfect assignments that I have extended every one of my contracts at least once and spent 6 months or longer in each position. I look forward to my next adventure, which will come after this 6 month contract!
